In Development?

My sister just informed me of some trailers she just saw on youtube.  Some fake and others I knew about already.  The reboot of A Nightmare on Elm Street is due this Spring.  I had to laugh when she swore that she saw an official preview for Jaws V.   Even more telling was the fact that she said that Roy Scheider and Richard Dreyfuss were going to reprise their characters from the original.  Hilarious, because Sheriff Brody was killed sometime between Jaws 2 and Jaws 3-D. And once again, following the debacle that was Jaws: The Revenge (tagline: “This time, it’s personal.”), I ask: WHY?! Especially when it’s been a good 25 years since the last one.

Finally, Spider-Man 4 is about to get underway.  Something very strange: after only 3 films in the last decade, we are getting a re-haul of the franchise.  A new director is taking over which will probably mean a new cast.  But why reintroduce the series when it has only been a few years since the last film was released.  While by far the worst of the trilogy, Spider-Man 3 still had moments of fun and it did have a lot to live up to following the phenomenal second installment.

  1. That’s funny. We were just watching Back to the Future II, and the movie was made in the 80s but depicts life in 2015, which isn’t too far off now. I don’t think we’ll have hovering cars by then! But anyway, they were walking by 3D movie preview, and it was Jaws 10. Shoot, now I’m thinking I’m mixing it up with a Simpson’s episode… I get so tired at night; I can’t keep things straight!
And I just learned the other day that they’re doing a remake of Flight of the Navigator. Saw it for the first time the other day, and I couldn’t get past PeeWee’s voice coming out of the robot – yuck.

  2. It was Jaws 19 in BttF2 (this time it’s really personal And the shark still looks fake 😉 ). I vaguely remember Flight of the Navigator.

  3. I remember all those disaster movies of that era(Jaws. Inferno, Posideon Adventure)
Good date movies to jump and have a shoulder to hide your eyes on!!!!

  4. Flight of the Navigator remake? Why? Yes, I remember Reubens as the voice of the spaceship. Apparently he didn’t even use his real name in the credits.

  5. I totally agree, d. So much for imagination in Hollywood. Are there no producers who have an ounce of creativity? Movies like Sherlock Holmes and franchise movies at the very least are not total redos.
