Course Heading, Captain?

Ok, I know this is just asking for trouble but something strangely intriguing was brought up in David Letterman’s Monday night  Small Town News segment.  I have heard some strange town names before but this one takes the cake: Intercourse, Pennsylvania.  The weekly publication “Intercourse News” has the subtitle “about families that do things together.” Strange and twisted I know but I just had to research it further.  What prompted this post is the fact that it has ties to two Hollywood movies.  The previously mentioned film Witness was filmed in the Pennsylvania Amish community.  Secondly, the Tim Allen/Kirstie Alley starring comedy For Richer Or Poorer (?) was set, but not filmed in the Amish community. And the reason I decided to watch Dave Monday night…. Shia LaBeouf who revealed absolutely nothing about his little movie opening on May 22nd and spent most of his time talking about his arrest in a Chicago Walgreens in November.

  1. I read lots about the Walgreens incident… other than that, I know nothing of Shia LaBeouf – is he in Indiana Jones?

  2. yep….he is in Indiana Jones. I just thought I would TRY to be a little vague obviously did not work too well. I know very little about Shia besides Transformers and Disturbia (both of which I have yet to see) and the Walgreens incident of course. He is playing a student of Dr. Jones and if the plot point goes where I dread it will… well, here’s hoping.

  3. The wife and I saw Disturbia on DVD at home last month. Neither of us is remotely qualified to be movie critics but I will say, though we enjoyed it, another month from now we will probably have forgotten we ever saw it.

  4. Never saw Disturbia, but I did watch Transformers a few weeks ago. It was entertaining. LeBeouf once played the obnoxious brother on a Disney TV show called Even Stevens. I used to watch it sometimes, but it really wasn’t very good if I recall correctly. He was also in the movie Holes, based on the award-winning kid’s book as the protagonist.

  5. Well, I saw Transformers. Not a bad movie considering it was a Saturday Morning Cartoon, and then toy line. Or was that the other way around? Acting was OK, for an action flick. Didn’t need much other than something between the big things going boom.

I never saw Disturbia or Even Stevens. A quick view through IMDB, and I found I saw him in “I Robot”. I remembered the character from that, so he couldn’t have been that bad. I don’t remember a lot, so he didn’t blow it, or really stand out. One other movie I saw, that he was in, was Holes. I don’t really remember the movie, so I can’t say much about the acting in it either.

  6. I saw Disturbia – it was pretty good… interesting premise about a teen who gets on house arrest, so he has nothing to do but observe his neighbors, one of whom is displaying serial killer type behavior… or is it? Entertaining suspense film. Is Intercourse near the Amish community?
