Grumpy dog

Currently on my blog page, there is a picture of my little corgi. He is an old grumpy little dog. In the past, when I have to leave town for any length of time, I tried to take him with me, or in the care of family. If that was not an option, I would board him in a kennel, with some trepidation. I never liked the kennels, because the little guy always seemed to be a bit nervous there.

I’m in Florida now, and the grumpy pup is staying with friends. I’ve heard he is still being a bit grumpy, but I’ve also heard that he is getting some love and attention. This has allowed me to relax just a bit on this vacation. It is a welcome relief.

Mere words can never express the gratitude I feel. This is coming from the same person who threw a fit when the dog arrived in the house 12 years ago. He wasn’t really my dog until recently. He always preferred the oldest female in the house. I let that oldest female take care of him. But with my youngest daughter being out of the house, he became my dog.

No, I really don’t have the words right now. My heart felt thanks are fully given. He is, after all, a very special grumpy old dog.

  1. It’s funny how special animals can grow in our hearts, no matter how negative the adjectives we use to describe them can be. The best dog I ever knew was a big jerk yet also one of the most special little girls in the whole world to Hubby and me. I don’t think anyone could understand how wonderful she was, especially when the main word we’d use to describe her was “jerk”.
I’m glad to see and hear that your grumpy little friend is feeling better. I hope to meet him someday.

  2. T, I believe that I know of the “jerk” you speak of. I understood how special and wonderful she was. She was adorable and sweet. We currently are boarding a horse who I will be sad to see leave when he and his family move into their new home in a few weeks.

  3. I’m glad to hear the puppy is doing well. I gather though that he has claimed you know and I can’t call him “my” puppy anymore. 🙁 Still it’s nice to know you two have accepted each other.

  4. We have “Frat Dog” and “Stupid Dog.” I love them both, but they are not the most complimentary monikers. And Daddy, I’m still not sure your grumpy dog peeing on me EVERY time he saw me is an indication that he liked me. I still thinks it’s the other way ’round.
Ladybug – you now have grandma’s cat, so I don’t think you can complain about Grumpy becoming Daddy’s dog. 🙂

  5. Well, the grumpy little dog is no longer at my house. I found it very amusing when his owner called him to his truck and this little grumpy dog walked up the front steps of my house wanting to go back inside my house. I think he wasn’t ready to go home.
