Wherever One Door Closes Another Is Sure to Open Soon

While at work tonight, my sister and cousin came into the store with some bad news.  The director for Little Shop called the house to inform me that I was not cast in any role… apparently my attempt at a Jewish accent did not meet with the director’s approval?  Have to work on that…. I would hate to think that he only one I am good as is one from Liswathistan 😉 .  I will have to think about the offer to work backstage this time.  It has happened previously and while it was fun, I really want to be on stage.  I know that the Village Players are doing a murder/mystery soon.  Another area theatre usually has a fall production… although the drive is a bit longer.  As I have noted before, I have been on different stages in the area and have had great times on each of them.  I dunno… is this wrong of me?   I love to be a part of the theatrical experience in any way especially when great friends are involved (two of them are producing Little Shop), but I am definately an on stage person.

Another great supporter suggested I research a theatre even farther away in Fort Wayne where they are doing Joseph in the near future.  I signed up to join their email list to be informed of audition dates and info.  That would be a GREAT BIG WONDERFUL adventure.  We shall see.  Until then…

  1. So sorry you didn’t get in to Little Shop… I was really looking forward to working with you again. However, I would really encourage you to go check out the VP’s auditions for the murder/mystery you mentioned. They’re going to be looking for lots of people to fill the cast, especially since they’ve lost a couple to Little Shop! 🙂 I really hope you’ll consider it… I like the thought of our two groups getting to work together more!

    1. Thanks Travis. Congrats to you? I was looking forward to working with you again, too. I will definitely look into the VPs show. If nothing else it will only help the two groups, also!

  2. Ouch, and this after I made a comment for you to enjoy yourself in it. I can say they they don’t know what they’re missing by not having you in their production. 🙂

Perhaps you were just being saved for that other production. I tried out for the worship team for my church one year but didn’t make it. Only weeks later they announced a new kid’s ministry drama program- I was so made for it, a wonderful melodramatic series that I know I’ve mentioned before.

  3. I am sorry Jamy. I really thought you read Mushnik very well – I didn’t hear you sing. The accent may have been a bit off but that is what REHEARSAL is for! 🙂 Don’t get down — you will be in more shows for sure!! GREAT JOB AT AUDITIONS!

  4. Thanks everyone… it’s not that I am down per se but really wanted to do this show ever since it was announced, but like I said… other shows coming soon at other venues. I dunno about the singing try not to listen to myself and go with it. I do realize that I need work on my Jewish accent and I agree that is what rehearsal is for but nothing I can do about that now. I did try SOME KIND of accent to show that I am able.

  5. Glad some of my VP friends and one totally new performer got cast. I will definitely be there for at least one performance 😀 Break a leg, all!

  6. Definitely try out for everything you have time to drive to; regardless of which group it is – do what’s best for YOU!
